Company cases

 

Here you will find the company cases carried out while developing this guideline. The company cases are structured around a workshop for employees from the entire organisation in question as well as the company’s business partners.

The process in these company cases are a good example of the time needed for packaging development or changes. Tulip is the only company who has terminated the development process during this project. The other case descriptions therefore only consist of the early phases.

Case report – Tulip Pålækker

The project’s purpose was to re-design the packaging for cold cuts, Pålækker. The analysed packaging specimens were different types of cold cuts packaging. End user observations and mechanical tests were carried out as preliminary work before the workshop. The new product were introduced in November 2011.

Case report – Tulip can

The project analysed different types of packaging for canned goods. The types of packaging analysed were different cans made of metal and plastic. End user observations and mechanical tests were carried out as preliminary work before the workshop.

Case report – Rynkeby

The project analysed different types of packaging for juice. The types of packaging analysed were different screw cap types of packaging as well as a gabletop packaging with pull ring and a bag-in-box. End user observations and mechanical tests were carried out as preliminary work before the workshop.

Case report – Schulstad

The project should study end user opinion regarding the clip on the bread bag. Through the end user study different types of packaging were evaluated as an alternative to the existing bread bag. The alternative types of packaging were: bag with tape closure, plastic tray with opening flap, cardboard box with plastic bag and a bag with zipper. End user observations were carried out as preliminary work before the workshop.

Case report – Kelsen Group

The project studied new possibilities for cookie packaging. The types of packaging analysed were different types meant for crackers, cookies, crispbread, chips and chocolate. The end user study should give Kelsen insight in the end users’ use of and attitude towards different types of packaging.

Case report – Skare Food

The project studied new possibilities of packaging for uncut salami. The types of packaging analysed were different types of cold cuts packaging as well as a stand bag for sauce. The end user study should provide Skare with insight in the end users’ use of and attitude towards different opening mechanisms which could be used for a new packaging.

Case report – Unomedical

 

The project was launched in order to search for improvements for the existing packaging for infusions set for insulin pump with starting point in user friendly packaging. The user observations were to give Unomedical insight into the consumer’s immediate conception of user friendly packaging without instructions. In general the users of these products receive instruction before they use the products. The other types of packaging were meant to give Unomedical ideas of how other opening mechanisms works for the consumers.
